Street View Imagery (SVI) in the Built Environment: A Theoretical and Systematic Review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Street view imagery (SVI) provides efficient access to data that can be used research spatial quality at the human scale. The previous reviews have mainly focused on specific health findings and neighbourhood environments. There has not been a comprehensive review of this topic. In paper, we systematically literature application SVI in built environment, following formal innovation–decision framework. main are as follows: (I) remains an effective tool for automated assessments. This offers new avenue expand environment-measurement methods include perceptions addition physical features. (II) Currently, is functional valuable quantifying sentiment perception, semantic speculation. (III) significant dilemmas concerning adoption technology related image acquisition, quality, temporal distribution, accuracy. (IV) rapid assessment researchers with guidance implementation SVI. Data integration management, proper service provider selection, metrics measurements critical success factors. A notable trend towards focus which more refined way depict urban forms terms social spaces.

Using google street view for systematic observation of the built environment: analysis of spatio-temporal instability of imagery dates

BACKGROUND Recently, Google Street View (GSV) has been examined as a tool for remotely conducting systematic observation of the built environment. Studies have found it offers benefits over in-person audits, including efficiency, safety, cost, and the potential to expand built environment research to larger areas and more places globally. However, one limitation has been the lack of documentati...

Using Google Street View to audit the built environment: inter-rater reliability results.

BACKGROUND Observational field audits are recommended for public health research to collect data on built environment characteristics. A reliable, standardized alternative to field audits that uses publicly available information could provide the ability to efficiently compare results across different study sites and time. PURPOSE This study aimed to assess inter-rater reliability of built en...

The Built Environment and Health: A Review

ANOVA-ANalysis Of VAriance. ANOVA is used to determine if differences found between groups of data are statistically significant. ANOVA compares variation around the mean values of groups of measurements – for example, household VMT at different levels of land use mix near households. BMI – Body Mass Index, a height / weight ratio. A BMI of over 25 is classified as overweight, and 30 is general...

Multi-View Random Fields and Street-Side Imagery

In this paper, we present a method that introduces graphical models into a multi-view scenario. We focus on a popular Random Fields concept that many researchers use to describe context in a single image and introduce a new model that can transfer context directly between matched images – Multi-View Random Fields. This method allows sharing not only visual information between images, but also c...

Automatic Discovery and Geotagging of Objects from Street View Imagery

Many applications such as autonomous navigation, urban planning and asset monitoring, rely on the availability of accurate information about objects and their geolocations. In this paper we propose to automatically detect and compute the GPS coordinates of recurring stationary objects of interest using street view imagery. Our processing pipeline relies on two fully convolutional neural network...
